Our History

The work in Lawrence began in 1991 when Kansas City Baptist Temple (KCBT) Pastor Tim Mensendiek was a professor at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. He began a Bible study for college-aged students that attracted individuals from the community and campus. Many members of this bible study commuted one hundred miles round trip to KCBT for nine years to attend church and to receive biblical instruction and training. In 1998 the bible study on campus shifted its focus to become more community oriented. Those people whom invested in this Bible study and other subsequent discipleship efforts began to pray for a church to be established in Lawrence. As a result of the diligent work and prayer of this bible study group and many at KCBT, in the summer of 2000 a committed team of 12 individuals began a church in Lawrence named Lawrence Life Fellowship (LLF).

We utilize the Biblical model of missions that the Apostle Paul used to begin churches. We trust in God to be faithful as we seek to fulfill the Great Commission in and from Lawrence. We began a church relying on the Apostle Paul's model of church planting outlined in the New Testament. We established the work believing that the Word of God will flourish in the lives of local people in the Lawrence area and result in producing pastors and leaders able to edify the Body of Christ locally and abroad.
